WaterLase

WaterLase

Traditional drills are trusted tools but they create heat, pressure, and vibrations, making dental treatments uncomfortable or even painful.

WaterLase® from BIOLASE combines water, air, and laser energy to perform a range of virtually pain-free treatments.

What makes treatment with WaterLase so unique?

WaterLase Involves Less Pain, FEWER SHOTS, AND FASTER TREATMENT

Virtually Painless

The WaterLase system keeps your tooth hydrated and reduces heat, resulting in a dental treatment that is practically pain-free. With WaterLase, your dentist may not even have to use an anesthetic to maintain your comfort.

Convenient and Fast

WaterLase is so gentle and quick that your dentist can often perform multiple treatments in a single visit, saving you the hassle of scheduling with a specialist or returning for follow-up appointments.

Safe and Precise

In contrast to a traditional drill, WaterLase removes very precise amounts of tissue without damaging surrounding areas. In addition, there is a much lower risk of cross-contamination, making your procedure even safer.

Let's take a closer look at the WaterLase system...

How Does WaterLase Work?

WaterLase is an innovative system which uses hydrokinetic technology to conservatively remove enamel, dentin, and soft tissue using a combination of air, water, and laser energy.

Both your teeth and the surrounding soft tissue naturally contain certain quantities of water. The WaterLase device works by exciting the water molecules in the targeted areas, essentially vaporizing the tissue. As it works, the laser also cauterizes the treatment site, minimizing bleeding as well as the chance of infection.

WaterLase Allows forQUICK, SAFE PROCEDURES

With WaterLase, your dentist may not even have to use an anesthetic to maintain your comfort.

You will be prepped and the laser will be directed at the treatment area.
Water molecules in the tooth or gums are heated rapidly and essentially vaporized.
The laser kills bacteria on contact, sterilizing the treatment area.
Your dentist completes any necessary treatment, such as filling placement.

Is treatment with WaterLase really more comfortable?

WaterLase Can Reduce or Eliminate THE NEED FOR UNCOMFORTABLE ANESTHESIA

WaterLase Can AddressA WIDE RANGE OF COSMETIC AND ORAL HEALTH ISSUES

The WaterLase system is highly versatile. The laser can work effectively with both soft and hard tissues, allowing your dentist to employ it across a range of procedures, including:

  • Preparation for a traditional porcelain veneer
  • Root canal therapy
  • Dental implant placement surgery
  • Laser gum contouring

Before — This smile was undermined by periodontal issues and a low gum line.

After — Laser dentistry treatment smoothed the gum line for a more symmetrical smile.

The Cost of WaterLaseDEPENDS ON THE PROCEDURE YOU NEED

In some cases, using a laser to perform dental treatments is more expensive than conventional methods. However, laser treatments are often more precise and yield better results, which can save you money in the long run.

It is important to discuss your treatment options with your dentist before electing to undergo treatment with WaterLase. They can help you weigh benefits of this treatment against the additional costs. For example, laser treatments can often be performed without sedation, saving you money on anesthesia fees.

Anesthesia Fees Retreatment Insurance
Dental Laser Typically only local anesthesia Lower risk of complications Not always covered
Conventional Treatment May require additional sedation May require follow-ups Covered for medically necessary treatments
